Unity in Christ Jesus
Dearest brother who is at war,
You probably have gotten so used to it that you forgot.
I forget this sometimes myself, that we are at war.
In these moments, this verse awakens my soul to remembering that
…our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
— Ephesians 6:12
But, brother, why does it feel like the struggle is… against ourselves?
Our own flesh and blood?
What happened to the rulers, authorities, powers of this dark world, and the evil spiritual forces? Have they deceived us into fighting ourselves and against each other, so that the Church may be weakened from within?
Isn’t this classic military tactics, brother?
How clever.
Shall we lose, then, brother? Or shall we unite and win this war…?
I propose we unite.
I don’t know how, though. All I have is… pen and paper, and a heart turned towards you.
Meet me here — my letters before your eyes, and here we shall unite in the Lord Jesus Christ. Here, nothing can separate us from Him who was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities, chatised for our peace, who was struck for our healing.
Here, you and I, we are brother and sister in Christ, we are children of the Father who is in heaven, who is unseen. Here, we are parts of a body, belonging to Christ our head. Let the Heart of God pump the same blood in our veins, let the mouth of Him breathe into our nostrils the breath of life, let our beings be rooted in Him, our souls abide in Him, so that we may be united, still, at peace, and bear much fruit.
The enemies will try to tear us apart, but I will keep writing to you.
No matter where you are, I know my letters will be delivered.
With love,
Josephine.
